Project Description
Avetus IV&V Support for OEHRM Implementation
Avetus conducted comprehensive Independent Validation and Verification (IV&V) services for the OEHRM initiative. Their work involved close collaboration with the Chief Medical Office, Cerner, and EHRM Councils to review and execute functional test cases and scripts covering both clinical and business workflows within the Cerner Electronic Health Record (EHR) system. The workflows evaluated were closely aligned with those used in the MHS Genesis platform.Key Activities and Contributions
- Criticality Analysis and Risk Assessment (CARA):
- Avetus led the CARA process for each workflow, enabling the prioritization of testing activities and the assignment of risk levels across more than one thousand workflows.
- Expert-Driven Test Optimization:
- Functional testers leveraged their deep understanding of clinical workflows to streamline and refine test cases, which also served as resources for clinical user training.
- Ongoing Testing and Training:
- The team provided continuous Functional, Interoperability, Requirements Validation, and Software Quality Code Check (SCQC) testing and training for the Joint Legacy Viewer (JLV).
- Joint HIE and C-CDA Content Testing:
- Avetus performed targeted testing on a critical component of the Joint Health Information Exchange (HIE), focusing on C-CDA content validation.
- The Joint HIE generates clinical documents from legacy VA and DoD systems, compiles aggregated Continuity of Care Documents (CCD), and processes complex document queries from the Social Security Administration (SSA) to support disability determination decisions.
Through these efforts, Avetus ensured that the OEHRM implementation met rigorous standards for functionality, interoperability, and quality, ultimately supporting safer and more effective healthcare delivery.Technology Used
