About John Brooks
John Brooks is a Partner at Avetus Partners and serves as Senior Vice President of our Logistics Business Unit, bringing 32 years of experience in Healthcare Logistics and Administration in the US Air Force and 6 years of Vice President-level experience in the private sector supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Electronic Health Record Modernization (EHRM) program. John is directly responsible for growth, operations, and staff development supporting the full spectrum of Logistics, Supply Chain, and Healthcare Support services Avetus offers to the full range of Federal customers. John is known for his Mission First-People Always operational focus and his dedication to innovation and excellence.
John was privileged to attain the rank of Colonel in the US Air Force Medical Service Corps. With a background in Medical Administration, John has commanded medical units both in-garrison and in deployment settings in Kuwait and Afghanistan. He earned his first of three Masters degrees from The George Washington University and was a certified Healthcare Administrator under the American Academy of Medical Administrators. A life-long learner, John’s advanced degrees include emphasis in Administration, Strategy, and Whole of Government logistics, contracting and supply chain management. John has led organizations numbering over 500 people and served at every level of organization for the Air Force Medical Service.
After retiring from active duty, John served as Vice President and Program Manager for a 160-member team and $150M contract performing independent testing of the VA’s new EHRM program. He led organic growth for his program exceeding $15M and was used as a C-Suite resource for innumerable winning proposals with several different Cabinet-level Departments and Agencies. John’s leadership style is characterized as a collaborator with a win-win-win mindset where his customers are delighted and his team is energized and mission-focused.
Outside of work, John immensely enjoys his time with his five Grandchildren, fishing, competitive card-playing, and travel with his bride of 36 years, Marilyn and their rescue dog, Lulu.
